Dear Mr. Bosworth,

My name is Barbara O’ Brien and my blogging at The Mahablog, Crooks and Liars, AlterNet, and elsewhere on the progressive political and health blogophere has earned me the notoriety of being a panelist at the Yearly Kos Convention and a featured guest blogger at the Take Back America Conference in Washington, DC.

I’m contacting you because I found your site in a health reform blog search and want to tell you about my newest blogging platform —the public concern of health care and its reform. Our shared concerns include health reform, tort reform, public health, safe workplaces, and asbestos contamination.

To increase awareness on these important issues, my goal is to get a resource link on your site or even allow me to provide a guest posting. Please contact me back, I hope to hear from you soon. Drop by our site www.maacenter.org in the meantime.

Thanks,

Hi Adam,

If you ever want to discuss changing the US healthcare system by changing the IT interoperability issues (the CONNECT program is a first step) then drop me an email.

It takes a lot of study, political will and the right contacts. I have the first two. Do you have the last one?

Cheers,
Tim

We have talked in the past. The community of those thinking "differently" continues to be small but growing. I have been working with a new model that allows patients to collaborate in their own "wellness" I personally believe this is the one person that has largely been left off in much of the discussion. We have created sustainable business models to enable this novel form of PHR for MS and Parkinson's (roughly 50,000 patients involved nationally). We are now expanding this to other disease states. I have posted several videos on youtube outlining this model.

Certainly would be interested in comments from you or others posting

I am also a mature person who made the choice to focus on making a contribution to fixing an overburdened healthcare system. At age 50, I returned to graduate school to get more education, which has been a blast. In the course of my field training at hospitals and social service agencies I have floored by the need for better information technologies. My last professional activities were as an institutional salesperson, and later manager, on Wall Street. The differential between these two industries is saddening. Thank you for making this sector a focus of your attention.
I too would like to be in contact with you and will be sending an email to your Keas info address.

Dear Mr. Bosworth (Adam),

Rapidly approaching age 66, instead of retiring I have decided to devote my remaining years to helping people live healthier lives just as you are. A Wharton School graduate (1963) and a non practicing CPA (Ky. 1968) having been involved in a host of businesses over the past 45 years, I have to the conclusion we must reduce the cost of care, improve outcomes and do so quickly. No nation has ever had to face a 20% cost burden imposed on its GNP by healthcare. We are rapidly approaching that point. In Kentucky, we have a new governor and lieutenant governor, the later being a physician and who is a passionate advocate of e-health. Ours in a poor state and ranks 47th among the states in overall health according to the rankings given in the recent Milken Institute study on chronic health.

My daughter is the prime reason I am following my present path rather than one which might have taken me to China when she observed that my plan to attempt to form the "Chinese-American Tobacco Company with the Chinese national Tobacco Company and the State Tobacco Monopoly Administration was "bad karma".

As you have discovered, tobacco is as common in China as it once was in the US.

As you are aware, the most effective way to improve your health is to cease smoking at once. (In Kentucky, about 30% of the population smokes.)

If you don't mind, I would like to write to you occasionally about what I am doing in e-health (forming WESTY - a RHIO for the 15 western most counties of Kentucky and a supporting organization for other such operations at least in Kentucky).

If the good Lord is willing, I too hope to spend the next 25 year of my life doing the same thing you are doing.

My maternal grandfather lived to 91 and anyone of my blood ancestors of the preceding generation who did not smoke or ceased smoking as I have done, lived well into their nineties - so it is possible that we should attempt to meet on or before the 25th anniversary of this missive to you.

My you have a wonderful Christmas and a happy and prosperous New Year.

Respectfully,

Rob Wheeler
